Thank you to all parents and carers for your support over the past week, when we have faced significant staffing challenges due to COVID-19. As a last resort we had to ask some year groups to spend a day learning from home, and we're really proud of our students for working hard on the assignments that were set. We know how difficult this can be for families, and are grateful for your understanding. Subject spotlight: EnglishIn English, our Year 8 students have been developing their ability to write descriptively for different audiences and purposes. They have explored various techniques to enhance their descriptive writing so that they can craft vivid descriptions of people and places. As a stimulus for their writing, they are learning about Birmingham, both now and in the past. This week, we looked at the city centre and mind-mapped ideas. - Miss Russell ![]() Subject spotlight: Religious StudiesRecently some of our Year 13 Religious Studies group had the opportunity to meet and talk to the author Simon Edwards. Simon has written a book on how it is logical to believe in God. The Year 13s were able to ask challenging questions based on their studies throughout A-Level. We have also been critically analysing evidence for the existence of God in Year 9 during the topic 'Introduction to Philsophy and Ethics'. Below are some examples of outstanding student work. - Ms Colley ![]() Educational visit: KS3 Resilience ResidentialA selection of our Key Stage 3 students had the opportunity to spend three days at the Frank Chapman Centre taking part in fun group activities such as geo-caching, mining, archery, tree climbing, abseiling, and high ropes. It was an action-packed experience to help build resilience, and they had a fantastic time! - Mr Price ![]() ![]() ![]() Supporting your child: ClassChartsWherever possible, please aim to check the ClassCharts Parent App every day (this is available on the AppStore and Google Play). It is very likely that you already have an account, so you can sign in with your email address and password. We use ClassCharts for recording your child's Q-Points, which celebrate their high standards and exceptional effort in lessons. Please ask them about what they did to earn their points! We also really appreciate you discussing any detentions and behaviour issues with your child, as this supports the conversations we are already having with them at the Academy. Upcoming Events
