It's been another busy week at the Academy and beyond! Year 10 are out on work experience, and we also have lots of students on a trip to France and Spain. We wish all students, parents/carers, and staff a wonderful half term break next week. Careers spotlight: Year 10 Work ExperienceOur Year 10 students are currently spending the week on work experience placements across the local area, learning valuable skills in a range of industries. This is a core part of our careers education, and we're really pleased that so many students are once again getting face-to-face experience in the world of work, which wasn't possible due to the pandemic in recent years. Huge thanks to all the employers who are hosting our students. Here we can see Fred working hard at a sports ground! ![]() And below is Tyler, who is spending the week shadowing a personal trainer at JD Gyms in West Bromwich. - Mrs Meredith ![]() Subject spotlight: Physical EducationLast week a number of Year 11 GCSE PE students were involved in a practical moderation day involving an external examiner from the exam board. ![]() Students took part in a handball training session followed by a full game, then a football training session and a full 11-a-side game which was supported by a number of Year 10 and Year 12 students. The attitude and effort shown by everyone involved was outstanding. - Mrs Halford ![]() Subject spotlight: DramaWe are really proud of the amazing KS3 students who've been working with enthusiasm and commitment on a number of projects this year. Topics studied include Greek myths and legends, pantomime, melodrama, Shakespeare, the scripted play of Our Day Out, The Strange Tale of Mr Fox, and explorative strategies such as cross-cutting, hot-seating, and still-images. Terrific practical work has been matched by some truly outstanding examples of creative and imaginative Independent Learning. - Mr Davis ![]() Year Group spotlight: Year 11We are delighted by the hard work Year 11 students are putting in to their studies, and how well they are managing the pressure of exams. ![]() Every morning Quisine is buzzing with students revising together. ![]() At the end of the day, many students choose to unwind with a game of football on the grass, supervised by the Year 11 team. It's great to see students getting a healthy balance between work and rest. - Miss Samuel ![]() Supporting your child: eSafetyThe safety of your children in a fast-paced online world is a critical concern to us. Daily we're faced with issues raised about the use of the internet, online gaming, mobile phones, and social media communications. We're helping to keep students informed of the dangers online through PSHE lessons and assemblies. For example, our recent assemblies have covered the laws and risks surrounding sending nude or semi-nude content. However, we appreciate that in this ever-changing world, it can be difficult for parents and carers to keep up-to-date and aware of the risks, and to know how best to monitor online activity. The Academy recognises the importance of this, so we have invested in an online resource for all parents and carers. Through this hub you have access to a library of information, webinars, and courses to keep you well-informed and aware. You can start your learning journey by registering for a National Online Safety account. Upcoming Events
