In the past week we've said goodbye to outgoing Year 11 students, and hosted a New Intake Evening for the new Year 7s who will be joining us next year. There continues to be lots going on in the Academy, in and out of lessons, and a few highlights are below. Please read to the end for guidance on how parents and carers can support us to maintain high standards in the Academy. Subject spotlight: BusinessYear 10 Business students have been applying their knowledge of different elements of the marketing mix to real life businesses. Students have worked together to identify and present the key decisions businesses make relating to their pricing, the products they sell, promotion, and place. All students have been demonstrating excellent creativity, recall, and teamwork skills. - Miss Williams Extracurricular spotlight: Nature ClubStudents in Nature Club have been working hard to restore the once overgrown and barren pond and the surrounding area. Students have enjoyed a wide variety of practical conservation tasks to help improve the environment with the aim of increasing our biodiversity at Q3 Academy Great Barr. This has included litter picking the grounds, building a new easy access pond dipping pebble beach, and even releasing some aquatic animals such as tadpoles, macroinvertebrates, and newts into the bigger restored pond. We have recently surveyed the pond and can confirm that wildlife populations are thriving once again at Q3 Academy Great Barr. - Mr Wilson Year 11 Leavers' AssemblyWhat an end to an incredible five years with Year 11! The Leavers' Assembly was an emotional yet funny final goodbye for all of Year 11, as they saw themselves and how they have changed from the start of their journey to the end of their journey at Q3 Academy Great Barr. Staff sent their goodbyes and good luck messages to the students, finishing with a beautiful but emotional poem read by Mrs M Schwald-Samuel, Head of Year 11. Once the tears were out of the way, the celebration of shirt signing began. All students enjoyed this, including the year team who had also got shirts for signing! This final moment together was enjoyed by all, with memories being shared and laughs being heard around Quisine. We wish all of our Year 11s the best of luck in the future whatever they do. They are an incredible year group who deserve the very best. - Miss Bloomfield Supporting your child: Academy StandardsExemplary behaviour is a top priority for us, to make sure our Academy environment is positive, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone. Alongside our drive to make sure every student behaves responsibly, we also believe in upholding high standards in all aspects of Academy life, and this includes Business Dress. It's important that our students look smart and take pride in their Academy identity. In the coming weeks we'll be regularly checking that all students are immaculately dressed. We're really proud that the vast majority already get this right every day. Our expectations are:
If your child has any issues with their Business Dress next week, we will contact you individually. We know that sometimes parents and carers are unclear exactly what is needed, so we'll be reaching out to let you know and work with you to get it resolved. As always, we really appreciate your support. Upcoming Events
