Have a wonderful break!

We're enjoying a festive end of term, with lots of exciting events including our Pantomime performances, Celebration Assemblies, and last week's Year 8 Reward Film Night and Year 7 Party. At the same time, high-quality learning continues as always in lessons.

Interim Reports for Years 7-9 and the Sixth Form have already been sent home with students, and Year 10-11 reports will go out at the start of January. Please discuss your child's report with them, as it is an important update on their effort and achievement. If you have any queries, you are always welcome to contact your child's Personal Tutor. Be mindful that messages sent over the break will be picked up in January.

Students may wish to wear a Christmas jumper or accessory along with their usual Business Dress this Friday, and our finish time is 12:30pm.

Year 7s Encompassing Geographical Skills

From comparing the unique cultural differences of England and Wales to making our very own 8-point compass roses, Year 7 students are having a great time voyaging through the 'Wonderful World' topic.

Geography 1

We have been hands-on as we learn a range of skills encompassing reading paper-based OS maps, identifying map symbols, locating scenic walking routes, and working out both four and six figure grid references.

Geography 2

We can even use our new skills to locate Q3 Academy Great Barr on an OS map!

Geography 3

We are developing as geographers and heading in the right direction as we continue to showcase our ever-growing skills. – Miss Perkins

Year 8 Reward Film Night

A select group of Year 8 students were invited to a special Christmas film night in our very own Lecture Theatre. These students were chosen due to the large amount of Q-Points they have achieved this term and for their excellent attendance.

Film Night 1

It was put to a vote which Christmas film they would watch on the evening, and the clear winner was Home Alone! Students enjoyed sweet treats and refreshments, and all had a fantastic time. Well done to the students who attended. What a great start to the Christmas season! – Miss B Smith

A-Level PE Coaching

Students in Years 12 and 13 were put through their paces in a football session led by James Hunter (Year 13).

A-Level PE 1

The A Level PE students stayed behind after-hours to carry out football drills, in order to gain the video evidence required to support their academic studies.

A-Level PE 2

Students will then edit the footage to each produce a personal Highlights Reel, which will be submitted to the exam board later in the year. – Mr Hard
