Celebrating our National Attendance Award!

This term we are delighted to have earned an FFT National Attendance Award, recognising the fantastic efforts of the Academy community in recent months. Thank you to all our students who consistently attend every day, and to their supportive families who value and encourage this engagement with education.

Top 10% in the Country

FFT is an organisation that works with places of education across the country, and they regularly analyse trends in data. Their most recent analysis shows that our student attendance ranks in the top 10% of similar establishments in England. This is a remarkable achievement and our students should be proud of their contribution towards this result. Keep up the great work! – Mrs Duckett

Staying Cool at the Academy

We encourage all students to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated in class (and in exams) during the warm weather. These can be refilled at break and lunchtime. Blazers do not need to be worn this week, although students should continue to dress smartly and wear the rest of their Business Dress correctly. We will of course keep this under review if temperatures further rise.

Please remind your child that water pistols and water fights are not allowed anywhere on Academy grounds under any circumstances. We encourage students to enjoy the warm weather in a calm and responsible way, ensuring a positive experience for all.

Students Explore Europe's Rich History and Culture!

Paris was first on the agenda for our lucky students, and no trip to this stunning capital is complete without a stop at Disneyland Paris! We first spent time in Disney Village to treat the shopaholics to a world of Disney merchandise, followed by a full day exploring both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios marking the end of our time in Paris perfectly with an out-of-this-world firework and drone display!

Visit to the Reichstag!

Next stop, Berlin! Here we spent time visiting the Reichstag where we learnt about how the German legal system differs to that in the UK, sampled traditional German Schnitzel, visited the Olympic Stadium including a visit to the Jesse Owens' lounge, and marked the end of our time in Berlin visiting an old airship hangar that has been converted into the world's largest indoor waterpark!

Our final city to visit was the stunning Krakow where we visited a Jewish art gallery that told the story of Hitler's rise to power and the tragedy that followed, learnt how Oskar Schindler used his power to help save the lives of thousands of Jewish people, and visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.

Arbeit Macht Frei - Work sets you free

While reflecting on the tragic events of the past, we emphasised the importance of remembering history to ensure such events never occur again. We ended our time in celebration with delicious zalewajka and pierogi, traditional music and dance, and an evening of bowling.

Dining at a traditional restaurant!

The students were an absolute joy to spend the holidays with, and I'm sure they'll join me in thanking our accompanying staff: Miss Szymanski, Mr Webster, and Mr Hennings! – Mr Price

Year 12 Students Wow Employers on Work Experience Week!

I am delighted to share with you the latest news and photos from our Year 12 students who have just completed their work experience placements. It has been a fantastic opportunity for them to gain valuable insight into the world of work and develop their skills and knowledge. With a beaming smile, Arjun tackled enquiries and booked viewings at Homes4Sale.

Arjun could be selling you your future home soon!

Students arranged their work experience themselves and we are proud to say that they have made a great impression. We have received highly positive feedback from the companies they worked with, who have praised our students for their positive attitude and hard work. Here is Lusungu working through live tasks with her assigned mentor at Malcolm Piper & Co Accountancy firm this week.

Lusungu gaining invaluable experience as an Accountant

Our students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring their career options and gaining practical experience in their chosen fields. Kyle has been hard at work at the RSPB and was one of many of our students who were highly praised for the teamwork, enthusiasm and initiative demonstrated on placement.

We would like to extend our thanks to all the companies who supported our students during their work experience placements. We are confident that our students have gained a lot from their work experience placements and we look forward to seeing them apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired in their future studies and careers. – Miss Benning

Rounders Victory: Year 9 Girls Triumph in First Matches!

After only a handful of training sessions, the Year 9 girls' rounders team played their first competitive fixtures. In an exhilarating first game against Wodensborough, our team showcased their impressive fielding skills, winning 8 rounders to 5, and securing a well-deserved victory. Our second game was closer, but again the team held their nerve and were victorious, winning by 1 rounder. The girls were gracious in victory and demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship by cheering for the other team. – Mrs Halford
