This week we share what Year 11 students are doing to prepare for their GCSE History qualification, we visit the French department and see what KS3 have been learning, and there's another extra-curricular activity to share with you – the world of modern board games! Navigating Challenges: How KS3 Boys Turned Travel Troubles into TriumphYear 8 students recently completed a unit on trips abroad and designed their own extended version of that topic to talk about disastrous trips abroad. They developed and extended their cultural capital by learning about foreign currencies and using Euros to book hotel rooms and cars in role-play activities. They used spontaneous speaking skills to express their opinions and reasons during that trip abroad. This also helped them to develop, extend, and consolidate their core vocabulary on holidays and personal preferences. We strive to provide essential knowledge that students need to be educated citizens, introducing them to the best that has been thought and said, and helping to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement. – Mr Savadogo Year 11 History Exam PracticeOur wonderful Year 11 History students have been attending after-hours revision sessions on Mondays in preparation for their mock exams this week, and also their GCSE exams in May and June. They have been creating work that will help them revise and look at individuals who have shaped what they have learned. For example, Joseph Bazalgette, who helped create sewer systems is an important person for their People's Health 1250-present day paper. All of the department wish the students the best of luck for their upcoming exams! – Mr Davies Games, Games, Games! The members of Board Games Club have continued to enjoy exploring the world of designer board games. Games of lying to your friends seem popular – some of which inspired the recent BBC hit show, The Traitors. Even our Sixth Form members have managed to carve out the time in the midst of their exam preparation to enjoy some of their personal favourites. The games we play are brilliantly designed and often include incredible art and design. – Mr Mills Miss Bloomfield takes home ZAFTA glory!Miss Bloomfield hosted Zog in Science this week after showcasing her fantastic support of students.
