We are proud to offer nutritious hot lunches at the Academy, and our standard meal deal includes a main course, dessert, and drink. We encourage all families to check whether your children could be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), especially if your circumstances have recently changed. For example, your children might be eligible if you are in receipt of Income Support, Child Tax Credit, or Universal Credit. ![]() You can check eligibility and apply for FSM on the Sandwell Council website. Please note that we operate a cashless catering system which means other students cannot tell who is in receipt of free meals. The Academy also receives Pupil Premium funding for all students who are registered for FSM, which enables us to offer additional opportunities such as subsidies for trips and tutoring for your child in Year 11. ![]() Let's Get Back To Business!Welcome to our new and returning Business Studies students – it has been a great start to the new year! Our students had the chance to explore the beautiful Elizabethan gardens and were thrilled to discover the ancient trebuchets that have recently been discovered from beneath the site's surface. – Mr Davies ![]() Year 9 Eco-Friendly Plastic ChallengeAt the end of the Summer Term, Year 9 students were given the opportunity to develop their STEM skills. They completed a Plastic Challenge over the course of six lessons, getting to know different types of plastics and how, if at all, they can be recycled. We then moved on to learning how long it takes for plastics and other objects to biodegrade. Students planned and presented their own projects showing how plastic can be upcycled. ![]() For example, students developed an independent ecosystem in which a plant can cycle the water and carbon dioxide continuously. The plastic bottle functions as a greenhouse. They also made guitar picks which can be sold online. You can use any old hard plastic for this and they painted them in different colours. Below is a bag which could be used to collect prizes at funfairs. – Mrs L Schwald-Samuel ![]() Years 10 and 11 Embark on Health and Social Care Journey! As Year 10 begins, students begin their exciting journey into Health and Social Care, filled with new challenges and opportunities.
