We greatly appreciate the continued support of parents and carers in helping students start each day ready to learn. It's invaluable to help your child arrive on time and check their bag to confirm that they are fully equipped. Your child can also show you their upcoming homework on Teams so you can confirm that it is complete. If your child regularly receives negative points or detentions, it can make a big difference to have a supportive conversation at home about strategies to stay organised and manage their behaviour. Receiving negatives should be rare, and we're here to help if this ever becomes a concern – you are always welcome to get in contact. Young Minds Shine in Junior Maths ChallengeAt the beginning of May, some of our Year 7 and Year 8 students took on the Junior Maths Challenge. What makes this unique is its focus on lateral thinking. Many of the problems are puzzles or logic-based scenarios that require students to think outside the box. The challenge encourages students to apply mathematical concepts in innovative ways, often drawing on topics that go beyond the standard curriculum. ![]() During maths lessons, students have been introduced to these types of questions to give them opportunities to practise their problem-solving skills and develop effective techniques for tackling similar challenges. This preparation was clearly reflected in their performance during the test. They behaved impeccably under strict exam conditions and truly proved themselves to be a credit to the Academy. ![]() We are extremely proud of all our students who entered the competition, with over 37% achieving a Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificate. A special well done goes to one of our Year 7 students who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Junior Kangaroo Challenge! We aim to continue developing our students' talents so that next year's results are even stronger. – Miss Hopkins ![]() Year 10 Photographers Capture The Beauty of NatureThis term, our Year 10 photography students have embarked on an exciting journey exploring the theme of natural forms. Inspired by renowned photographers such as Karl Blossfeldt, Damon Clark, and Marian Bell, students have been encouraged to look closely at the intricate details found in plants, shells, and other organic objects. ![]() Through a series of workshops, students learned to observe and capture the subtle textures, patterns, and shapes that make natural forms so fascinating. Using digital cameras, they experimented with composition, lighting, and focus to create striking images that highlight the beauty of the natural world. ![]() To take their work even further, students have been developing their digital editing skills using Adobe Photoshop. They have explored a range of creative techniques, from enhancing colours and contrast to layering images and experimenting with filters. These skills have enabled them to transform their photographs, producing imaginative and visually stunning final pieces. – Mr Kumar ![]() Join our Chess Club: Unlock Your Potential!Looking for a new challenge or a fun way to sharpen your mind?
